Anne Watson Elementary School (East End School District) – Success Story

Anne Watson elementary school utilized ISEP grant funds to purchase playground equipment for the elementary classes. Outdoor basketballs (12), footballs (12), soccer balls (12), and kick balls (12) were purchased along with 2 soccer goals, one volleyball net, and three equipment wagons to carry the recess equipment.

Teachers reported a significant improvement in the amount of physical activity taking place during recess, and a decrease in the level of conflicts arising from arguments over the lack of equipment available to students on the playground during recess. These were the two major problems that we wanted to improve. Thus far, the intervention has been a great success due to the ISEP grant!
